ROLLING STONE AND THE ART OF THE RECORD REVIEW SEP 1 - OCT 22, 2011
I'm currently in a group exhibition at The Society of Illustrators called, "Rolling Stone and the Art of the Record Review." The piece that's shown below is a portrait of Jack Johnson done for Steve Charney at Rolling Stone in 2008. There's a great show of work that's up which spans several decades, plus some rock n' roll paraphenalia from celebrity musicians! Wow! |

AMARILLO CENTRO DE DISEÑO APR 7-9 2011
Last week I hosted a workshop in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico through the design group Amarillo Centro de Diseño, which consists of Aída Aguilera Rocha, Juan Carlos Vasquez Padilla, and Joan Xavier Vasquez. Amarillo is a design concept that is comprised of a store, workshop studio, and gallery space. Many of the workshopees came from various cities in and around Xalapa. My workshop focused more on the process of illustration-making. Earlier that week, I also gave a lecture to the Design students at Anahuac University. To close off the week Amarillo set up an exhibition to showcase some of my work. The photos below are only a glimpse into the wonderful time that I spent in Veracruz, Xalapa, and Coatepec. Thank you again to everyone who made my time there so special. Hopefully I will see you all again! (ps. thank you Emy for the yummy cupcakes and for being an extraordinary translator! |

TINY TRIFECTA APRIL 9, 2011
Last Saturday April 9th, I was involved in a group show curated by Tara McPherson in her Williamsburg, Brooklyn store, "Cotton Candy Machine." The show was a packed house with work featured by artists such as Mark Ryden, Gary Baseman, Jordan Isip, Audrey Kawasaki, and Shawn Barber, plus many more. I submitted a silkscreened accordian book (which I learned how to make in David Sandlin's printmaking course... "thanks David!") You can see some photographs from the event as well as the other pieces that were in the exhibition. Enjoy! |
